Prof Jegan Krishnan


Orthopaedic Surgeon – Founder of JRC

Jegan Krishnan is one of the foremost Orthopaedic Surgeons in the Asia Pacific region. With an eye for detail, a focus on patient care and a wealth of experience, Professor Krishnan has built a global reputation as a consummate professional who is devoted to his patients and his craft.

Jegan has been a practicing Orthopaedic Surgeon for over 30 years and was the Chair of the Orthopaedic Surgery, Flinders University till 2016. Jegan has a particular interest in Joint Replacements as well as shoulder and hand surgery. He devotes his time between private practice, research and improving patient care as well as orthopaedic education and training in third world countries.

Jegan has always believed that high quality health care should be available to all and has never charged a gap for consultation or surgery. Jegan founded the Joint Replacement Clinic based on the same philosophy and commitment to patient care.



Professor Jeganath (Jegan) Krishnan (MBBS, FRACS (Orth), Ph.D.) is an Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Adelaide, South Australia who currently consults and operates at various locations across the state.

Professor Krishnan has a particular surgical interest in shoulder and hand surgery and has presented at many internal forums in regard to this. He also has a keen interest in the design of a prototype metacarpophalangeal finger joint for the rheumatoid hand. He attained a PhD in this topic at Flinders University. In additional this he is the Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery at Flinders University.

Furthermore, he has an interest in improving training programs for Orthopaedic surgeons in countries such as India, China and Africa, which he performs a combination of lectures, live surgeries and workshops.

Professor Krishnan is also a member of many several bodies such as The Australian Shoulder and Elbow Society, the Australian Hip Society and the Australian Hand Surgery Society. He also sits on multiple committees including the Heads of Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery South Australia. Finally, Professor Krishnan is involved in curriculum development in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Rwanda with Specialists Without Borders.
